Traitors (R)

House Speaker Mike Johnson has just announced that the bipartisan Senate bill to tighten border controls and provide aid for Ukraine, Israel, and Gaza is "dead on arrival". Trump has made it clear that he wants to keep the border problem festering, to use as a campaign issue against Biden. Trump also does not care if Ukraine is enslaved by his heroic model Putin.

All Republican politicians have fallen into line, terrified that opposition to Trump will end their political careers. These jerks are simply traitors, nothing less. They are cowards without principle, willfully damaging America for personal gain.

How do they plan to get away with this? They believe that by flooding the media with lies and distortions, they will avoid accountability, and they are likely right about this. The media do not care, as long as this makes money for them. Corporate and billionaire money-givers (PACs) will finance the media flood, and all the politicians must do in return is give them some concessions in tax law and regulations.

Political parties make this possible. They are the organizers of our corrupt political system. Politicians derive their status and influence from their parties, which give them campaign money and coordinated attack themes (e.g. the Mexican border), determine their committee assignments, legislate funds for local priorities, and give additional support to at-risk campaigns. Trump has made it plain the the party is everything, and Trump is the party. These jerks do not even think about the common welfare. The founding fathers warned about parties (factions), but we did not listen and are still too stupid to see what has happened.
